Ulrich Gutmair, born in 1968 in Dillingen an der Donau, is an editorial journalist with the daily newspaper taz. He moved to Berlin to study history and journalism, briefly before the fall of the Berlin Wall took place. Decades later, in 2013, he published his book about the music scene of that time, titled “Die ersten Tage von Berlin – Der Sound der Wende” (Klett, Berlin / engl.title: “The First Days of Berlin – Sounds of the Reunification”). His pieces on history, politics and culture are regularly published in daily newspapers and magazines throughout Germany. Gutmair lives in Berlin.
