Self-driving police vehicles have been patrolling the streets of Dubai. The miniature drones can work autonomously or they can be steered by human police officers remotely. The vehicles’ equipment includes a camera and facial recognition software. Autonomous policing like this will become more widespread in the next few years, according to the chief of police in Dubai, and roving robocops will likely make up about 25 percent of the police force in Dubai by 2030.
